An award-winning producer, engineer, musician, writer, and lecturer, Mark has worked with a wide variety of artists across many musical genres, from Alison Krauss and Godsmack to Peter Erskine, Jonatha Brooke, the Counting Crows, Russ Taff, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.”
An accomplished musician who studied jazz and classical guitar, Don toured with the legendary Oak Ridge Boys for two decades while maintaining a busy recording schedule in Nashville. Don was the guitarist on the TV show The Oak Ridge Boys Live from Las Vegas for five years and has shared the stage with everyone from Lou Rawls and James Brown to Merle Haggard and Tim McGraw.
A renowned drummer and extraordinarily talented singer and songwriter, Nick has worked with such prominent acts as Tears for Fears, Sheryl Crow, Kevin Gilbert, Eric Burdon and the Animals, and Peter Gabriel. In 1996, Nick took Phil Collins’s place in Genesis and played on their Calling All Stations album. He has carved out a major presence in the progressive rock world with his bands, Spock’s Beard and Big Big Train.
Before joining the Sweetwater team, Nick ran away and joined the circus, spending 4 ½ years touring with Cirque du Soleil’s TOTEM as drummer, vocalist, and assistant bandleader.
A native Texan and a member of the Western Swing Hall of Fame, Dave has played gigs with Robert Earl Keen, Robbie Fulks, Shelly West, and the Platters. He’s played on albums for everyone from Robben Ford to Ventures’ guitarist Nokie Edwards. Dave owned and operated Java Jive Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, where he produced projects that range from rhythm & blues and western swing to bluegrass and indie rock.
A gifted producer, arranger, songwriter, and keyboard player, Phil has played for artists such as Sandi Patty, Boz Scaggs, Dolly Parton, Elton John, Glen Campbell, and Kenny Chesney. He has produced Grammy and Dove Award-winning albums, with credits that include Steven Curtis Chapman, Point of Grace, Carman, and Jaci Velasquez.
Studio Operations Manager
Julie has been with Sweetwater since 1996 and is in charge of schedules, communication, travel, and everything else necessary to keep things in the studio running smoothly, or as she puts it, “Crackin’ the whip and keepin’ everyone in line.”
Theatre Operations Manager
Jimmy runs our Performance Theatre, along with all of Sweetwater’s meeting and live performance venues. He was trained as a recording engineer, but his love for the technical side of live production led to his coming to Sweetwater in 2013. Jimmy’s a keyboard player, a guitarist, and a singer.
Director of Sales/Artist Relations
Mike comes to us from Las Vegas. He was the owner and front man for Conflict of Interest, a very successful national touring rock band for the past fourteen years. He studied pre-Med at the University of Missouri and was a combat medic in the U.S. Army for eight years where he received medals for leadership and bravery while serving overseas in the Iraqi war.
Shawn has been a longtime front of house and studio engineer for Counting Crows, spending the the last 10 years on the road and in the studio with them. Shawn has produced albums in Winnipeg, Canada with artists from all genres (from Doc Walker to KEN mode) and has worked on engineering projects with industry heavy weights such as Gavin Brown, Rob Cavallo, Rob Wells, Steve Albini and Brian Deck.
Nathan's superlative engineering skills and legendary experience with Pro Tools have landed him projects with artists such as Chick Corea, the Small Glories, NEEDTOBREATHE, the Accidentals, Bill Miller, Steven Curtis Chapman, Brent Mason, Carl Verheyen, Fastball, and Russ Taff.
Nicholas is an accomplished drummer and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University’s Recording Program. He has been at Sweetwater Studios since 2012. In addition to his role as a recording engineer, Nicholas is responsible for managing the equipment in all three Sweetwater Studios.
Before coming to Sweetwater, Spencer was Theater Supervisor for the Littman Theater in North Miami Beach, and was the co-owner of a Fort Lauderdale recording studio. He also spent many years as a mastering engineer at Nashville’s Custom Mastering, focusing on cutting vinyl lacquers.
Ken has mastered country records from artists including the Zac Brown Band, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Billy Currington, and Toby Keith; rock records from the Jayhawks, Widespread Panic, Sister Soleil, and the Mavericks; and Christian records from Jars of Clay, Switchfoot, Casting Crowns, and Michael W. Smith.
Krystal is a graduate of Southwestern Michigan College with an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration, and is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Music Technology with a Concentration in Music Tech Sales and Marketing at The University of St. Francis in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She plays several wind instruments and has received commendations for her professional work in the Audio / Visual field.
Bobby has a Bachelor of Arts from Capital University in Columbus, OH in Music Technology and Production. He has worked as an independant sound designer and enjoys creating electronic music.
Tim graduated from Full Sail University with a Recording Arts degree. When not working at Sweetwater, he works as an audio assistant in the house of worship community.
Live Audio Assistant
Austin is from Lily Lake, Illinois and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Elgin Community College, and his Bachelor in Audio Arts and Acoustics with an emphasis in Audio Design and Production from Columbia College in Chicago. Before joining the Sweetwater Studios team, he interned at Mystery Street Recording Company, and also worked as a live sound contractor.
